What are RUF Fire Bricks?
RUF Fire Bricks are high-density, wood briquettes made from compressed sawdust and recycled hardwood residues, with no chemical binders or additives. Kiln dried to an ultra low moisture content (typically below 12%) and Ready to Burn certified, they offer easy ignition and strong, long lasting heat with minimal smoke and very little ash. Their dense, uniform shape (approx. 6.5 x 15cm) makes RUF Fire Blocks easy to handle, stack and break, while ensuring consistent combustion and reliable heat output.
What Appliances can I Use RUF Fire Bricks In?
RUF Fire Bricks are suitable for use in most heating appliances, including wood-burning stoves, multi-fuel stoves, open fires, firepits, chimineas, and outdoor ovens. Their breakable design makes them particularly useful for smaller stoves, while their strong, steady heat output performs well in closed appliances. As with all solid fuels, always check your appliance manufacturer’s guidance to ensure suitability.
How Do You Light Briquettes?
Light briquettes just as you would traditional firewood. Start with kindling and a firelighter, then add 1 - 3 briquettes once you have a good bed of flames. Avoid overloading at first – allow enough airflow for your briquettes to ignite and burn cleanly before gradually adding more.
Can I Mix RUF Fire Blocks with Firewood?
Yes – RUF briquettes work very well alongside kiln dried logs. Many customers start their fire with logs for lively flame, then add RUF Fire Bricks to maintain long, steady heat output. You can also mix RUF Fire Bricks with other wood briquettes control burn rate and heat output more precisely.
How Should I Store My Briquettes?
To keep your briquettes performing at their best, store them in a dry, well-ventilated area to maintain their low moisture content. Wherever possible, store them indoors and always keep them raised off the ground to prevent moisture absorption. If outdoor storage is necessary, ensure they are covered with a waterproof sheet while still allowing for airflow.
