Frequently Asked Questions
What is Kiln Dried Premium Hardwood Firewood?
It's our highest-quality firewood: a carefully selected mix of dense hardwoods, debarked and kiln dried to below 20% moisture. It lights quickly and reliably, gives high heat and a long, steady burn, and leaves little ash or mess. Logs are cut to around 25cm, so they suit indoor stoves and outdoor fires alike.
Why choose Premium Hardwood over a single wood type?
Premium hardwood combines the best of each species – easy lighting, long burns and excellent heat – at a competitive price. You also get:
- Debarked logs for less mess and less ash
- Minimal smoke, tar and creosote to protect your stove and chimney
- Sustainably sourced wood
- Consistent quality, Ready to Burn certified logs
Kiln Dried Premium Hardwood Firewood is the perfect all-rounder for anyone looking for reliable, clean-burning firewood in the UK.
Is your Premium Hardwood Ready to Burn and suitable for Smoke Control Areas?
Yes. All our firewood meets the UK Ready to Burn standard, which means it's dried to below 20% moisture, burns cleaner with less smoke, tar and soot, and complies with UK rules on domestic wood fuel. In a Smoke Control Area, you can burn it in a DEFRA-exempt stove or other approved appliance – always check your appliance manual and local rules.
What crate sizes is premium hardwood available in?
Kiln Dried Ash comes in three crate sizes. The Full Crate is our most popular choice for regular wood burner users, holding 2.0m³ of loose logs.
| Crate | Loose volume | Stacked volume | Crate size (H × W × L) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Crate | 1.1m³ | 0.6m³ | 0.82m × 1.10m × 0.85m |
| Full Crate Most popular | 2.0m³ | 1.2m³ | 1.20m × 1.14m × 1.08m |
| Max Crate | 3.34m³ | 2.0m³ | 2.00m × 1.15m × 1.08m |
Loose volume is the UK industry and legal standard: it measures logs loosely tipped into a container. Stacked volume measures the same logs neatly packed, so it's always the smaller figure. Find out more in Loose vs Stacked Firewood Explained.
How Should I Store Kiln Dried Firewood?
Store your logs raised off the ground in a well ventilated, sheltered log store, garage or shed, protected from rain but with good airflow to maintain low moisture. Proper storage maintains low moisture and ensures your logs stay Ready to Burn. For more tips, see our Firewood Storage Guide.
