The Best Firewood for Your Stove
Kiln dried wood is the best firewood for your wood burner because it produces more heat and is less likely to smoke. Our kiln dried logs are ready to burn and produce a fantastic blaze and a significant amount of heat.
More Heat, Less Moisture
Dried to an average moisture content of under 20%, you nearly double the amount of heat produced by the logs. They are also split and cut to 25cm lengths — despite some variation due to the nature of nature, they should still fit in most wood burners.
Sustainably Sourced, Guaranteed
We make sure that our kiln dried logs come from a sustainable source and we're confident of the quality we source — so much so that all of our kiln dried wood has our Firewood.co.uk Guarantee.

Premium Delivery – next-day after dispatch. Nominated Day and Timed Delivery – Select your delivery window at checkout. Orders arrive via a tail-lift lorry and pallet truck. Deliveries are kerbside only and placement beyond this cannot be guaranteed. For full delivery details, including access requirements and delivery area exceptions, visit our delivery information page.
How Do I Know if Firewood is Dry Enough?
The most reliable way is to test with a moisture meter on split log centres – it should read below 20%. Dry firewood will have cracks in the ends, pale colour, and a hollow sound when knocked together. To erase the guesswork, buy Ready to Burn logs, which are guaranteed to have low moisture content.
How Much Firewood Do I Need for Winter?
The amount of firewood you need depends on how often you burn and the size of your appliance. Occasional weekend users may only need 1–2 cubic metres across winter. Regular evening users typically go through 1 cubic metre every 3–4 weeks during colder months. Heavy daily users often need 4–6 cubic metres to comfortably cover the heating season. Denser species like ash and oak typically last longer per load because they burn more slowly and produce higher sustained heat.
What is the Difference Between Hardwood and Softwood?
Hardwood species such as ash, oak and birch are denser, so they burn longer and produce more sustained heat. Softwood ignites quickly and burns faster, making it more suitable for kindling or starting fires. We don’t supply softwood – all our firewood (and even our kindling) is hardwood.
Can I Burn Kiln Dried Logs in a Smoke Control Area (Smokeless Zone)?
Absolutely – if the logs are Ready to Burn Certified and paired with a DEFRA-approved appliance. The Ready to Burn scheme confirms moisture content is below 20%, reducing smoke and particulate emissions. This ensures compliance with UK regulations while maintaining efficient stove performance.Buy Now, Pay Later
